The Master Builders Association (NSW) is urging skilled workers in the building and construction industry to get the right qualifications by taking advantage of Federal Government funding for training places.
“As a registered training organisation Master Builders has less than 200 training places available statewide under the Productivity Placement Program,” said Paul Lawrence, Training Manager, MBA (NSW).
“In the last few months we’ve been inundated with applications from skilled workers and contractors keen to get the proper qualifications to fully benefit from Australia’s booming building and construction industry,” Mr Lawrence said.
“Federal Government funding means that there has never been a better time to become a qualified builder or tradesperson in NSW. Industry qualifications offer greater opportunity both in terms of career advancement and earning potential.”
The Federal Government’s Productivity Placement Program teaches vocational skills to skilled workers wanting to get the right qualifications for their trade.
Mr Lawrence said that the Federal Government’s stimulus package, combined with historically low interest rates and ongoing infrastructure investment, has created a favourable environment for those entering the industry.
“Nationwide there is enormous scope for industry growth, whether it is in the mining and resources sector, residential home building or commercial construction,” Mr Lawrence said.
To be eligible under the Productivity Placement Program, participants must not be enrolled in secondary or other tertiary education and training. Participants may have previously undertaken or completed other training programs, as long as they are not currently involved in those programs.
“Training can also be arranged for spouses and partners working in the business, which is particularly relevant for the course in contract administration.”
Master Builders have funding available under the Productivity Placement Program for the following courses and qualifications:
- Certificate IV in Building & Construction (Estimating)
- Certificate IV in Building & Construction (Building)
- Certificate IV in Building & Construction (Site Management)
- Certificate IV in Building & Construction (Contract Administration)
- Diploma of Building & Construction
- Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety
Those interested in applying for training under the program are encouraged to contact Master Builders (02) 8586 3555 or visit www.masterbuilderstraining.com
